Doug and Robby –

Thank you for an absolutely wonderful first day back on a ski!  I appreciate the use of the vest and appropriate selection of a ski. J  The instructions in my ear once I got up were perfect, and I know I have a lot to learn about the course…but I’m hooked.  I will certainly book a stay this season.  Your facility is immaculately kept, very picturesque and a pleasure to visit.  Great job!

BTW: Kudos for having the patience of saints! It was a bit frustrating for me as well, but I think with time and additional lessons I’ll get back in the groove.

Dear Doug, Robby, and Scout,

We would like to thank you again for our AMAZING stay at Ski Sunset Ranch.  What a top notch facility!  Like we said before, it is a skiers slice of heaven.  Everything from the beautiful and immaculately kept grounds, the comfortable/ clean housing, the dependable glassy water, the spot-on instructions, and for the warm and friendly environment that you both graciously provide. Thank you!  We all will be counting down the days until our next trip.

Hey Doug and Robby,

Just wanted to send a e-mail thanking you for the great week of skiing, I LOVED IT. Dori and I had a great time getting to know you guys and we really enjoyed your company and laughs. We will be back next year and we would like to come at the same time. Thanks Doug for the coaching and Robby for driving. What else can I say, I am spreading the word about your place. I already can't wait to come next year. If you guys are EVER up this way send me an e-mail and you could come stay with us at our place or just hang out. Keep in touch, and have a great time off this winter. Say hi to Scout for us :)

Unforgettable 3 Days @ Sunset Ranch

Dear Doug, Robby

 On behalf of Mike, Dave, and Jim, I want to thank all of you for an wonderfully unforgettable 3 days at Sunset Ranch.

The setup at the Ranch is obviously top-notch, and rivals any ski-school / club anywhere in the world.

First & foremost, however, was the hospitality and total access that you four showed us; Thank you.

From the one-on-one coaching, to the flexible rotation(s), to the sideline humor;  it all made for the perfect learning environment.

We were serious when we said that we had learned more about waterskiing in 3 days from you four than we had in the previous 30+ years.

We were also very serious when we said that we would be back to Ski Sunset Ranch, hopefully very soon, and hopefully often!

Good luck with the Syrah harvest; we hope to enjoy some of that 2010 vintage in 2 years!

 I wanted to thank you for a great holiday.  You have a truly incredible site and great accommodations.

Thanks to Doug for helping me get out of my slump and giving me the tools to keep improving.  I feel like a now know what I have been doing wrong and what the right things are to do to progress to the next level.

Hi Robby and Doug:

I wanted to thank you for all your time and efforts coaching me over the past four days July 1 -4.  This was one of the most memorable adventure-type vacations I have ever taken.  Although the Sunset Ranch Ski School has not been around forever, it might become a standard for how to train skiers.  A lot of people like me probably wonder how to improve but do not have an available peer group who understands in sufficient depth the techniques needed to efficiently ski a slalom course and what you should change first.  So they can’t get the appropriate kind of instruction from just hitting the course and pondering it in their minds or discussing it with their ski buddies.  You should know that the way you interact with the skiers who are training there is remarkable.  Doug, you have a gift not only for waterskiing but for analyzing the technique gaps for skiers trying to do this sport and special abilities in delivering effective coaching.  Not every high caliber athlete can do this.  The water ski lake is also beautiful and one of the nicest pieces of land development I have ever seen.  I want to come down again next year and may go for another short stay or some other format where I can take a group of lessons.  I’d like to bring my son; he would love it.  I hope I can take some of the points of instruction from Doug and burn them into my skiing style, because I know that would give me a big improvement.  If you want any pictures, I will give you some on a disk for your use - however you want (maybe Sunset Ranch Facebook).  We are looking forward to trying some of the Trimble Estates Syrah.  My bottle made it back intact in the ski carrier.  I liked meeting everyone and getting to know you a little bit.    Have a great summer water skiing, harvesting grapes, and mountain biking, and win some tournaments!
